Ethan Fernhaber is a flourishing entrepreneur and the founder of all the organizations that Helix supports. His multiple ventures all stem from his vision to restore hope. His 4,000+ multi-family residential units are all built around a passion for people and breaking the cycle of generational poverty and hopelessness in order to bring healing and dignity. Whether providing apartment homes to under-served populations, working with formerly incarcerated employees at modular home factory, Volumod, or providing equitable investment opportunities to racial minorities, Ethan sees the beauty and gifts of all people. He is a passionate follower of Christ, husband to Stephanie and father to three daughters.
Eli Marshall is a team-oriented leader who always searches for ways to add value to the community. Born and raised in central Indiana, Eli has spent time in a variety of vocations including a career firefighter, sales/marketing management, real estate development, team building/culture creation, and business ownership. Eli is deeply committed to helping those around him grow and experience the “life that is truly life.” His mission is to allow Christ to work through him to leave every person, situation and space better than how they were found. An eternal optimist, Eli's passion for people and love of life are contagious! He and his wife, Trista, have two children.
Mark Thomas is a servant leader and innovator guiding teams in business, nonprofit and public service spaces. Previously, Mark managed technical and operational components for the Department of the Navy and served as a leadership development instructor. Mark is passionate about building and retaining organizational culture, raising up leaders and advocating for people who are differently abled. Mark develops the strategic partnerships and communities of Helix organizations. Casting a fearless vision for the future, Mark inspires others to live, work and serve Christ in all aspects of life. He has a deep passion for mentoring individuals and teams. Mark's favorite team includes his wife of 25 years, Andrea, and their two sons.
Amber has always worked around construction, from helping her uncle renovate houses in her youth to working in the construction supply business for several years. Renewing Management was one of her customers and eventually she joined the team working on new construction, and now a Project Manager for new developments with Helix. Amber grew up in central Indiana and she loves spending time with her kids and family, camping, traveling and spending time with her fiance.
Brittney Landrum is a passionate content creator with a heart for faith, family, and business. As a devoted follower of Christ, Brittney finds purpose in serving others and spreading positivity through her work. With a keen eye for storytelling and a knack for creating engaging content, Brittney has the unique ability to build culture and business through her creative endeavors. Whether it's through captivating videos, inspiring blog posts, or social media campaigns, she strives to make a meaningful impact and inspire others to make a difference as well.
Cyrus is an accomplished executive and entrepreneur with experience leading, mentoring, growing and scaling teams to deliver solutions to real world problems. He helps Helix establish a culture of growth, mentorship and collaboration in the various supported organizations. Cyrus's background has primarily been IT leadership, but he has shifted recently to support different business verticals grow and succeed. His entrepreneurial endeavors include successful ventures in digital security, consulting, real estate investing and custom software. Cyrus is married to Casey and together they have two young boys.
Senior Development Associate
With nearly a decade in the commercial real estate industry, Errick maintains responsibility for helping grow the footprint of Helix developments. He's worked in all areas of real estate development, including research, brokerage, capital markets, and development across all sectors. He's excited to work to enact intentional and meaningful change in the regulatory space statewide in order to positively impact the housing market. Errick loves spending time with his wife, son, and the rest of his family.
Jason Patterson provides strategic executive support to the Helix33 team. Jason is husband to Ashley, father of five, and son of The King! He was born in California but raised in Central Indiana. He attended Ball State University and started his career at Coca-Cola where he dedicated 14 years in a managerial role. He has also owned his own nutrition and wellness business. Jason loves to coach and mentor people and assist them in finding their value and true potential in all areas of life
Jaylen assists the Helix team as a real estate financial analyst. He graduated from IUPUI with a double major in finance and real estate and has been a part of the Volumod and Renewing Management teams prior to joining Helix. Outside of work, Jaylen enjoys creating music and spending time with his friends and family. He aspires to help Helix make a positive impact!
Director of Communications
Jennifer helps Helix organizations coordinate, craft and deliver their messages. With decades of experience in writing, website design, event management, marketing deliverables and communication coaching, Jennifer is thrilled to share the story of Restored Hope through the Helix family of organizations. She is passionate about her faith in Jesus and helping those around her with joy. Jennifer and her husband, Brad, enjoy serving their church, hanging out with their three energetic teenagers and traveling to new places.
Born and raised on a farm in East Central Indiana, Kirby first joined the Renewing Management team. When Volumod launched, he was one of the first employees, utilizing his skills as an electrician. Eventually he become Production Manager before joining the Helix team as a Project Manager. Kirby is passionate about helping those returning from incarceration or addiction, and helps lead several Helix reentry initiatives. He is a devoted follower of Jesus, married to the love of his life, Kristy, and is stepfather to three amazing humans. Fun fact: Kirby took a couple years off construction and learned to train pets as well as police and military K-9s.
Lauren provides strategic executive support to our senior leaders while managing office administration and organizational details. She also works to keep improving internal and external processes to streamline business operations. Lauren’s background in finance and human resources equips her to handle a myriad of details as Helix grows its development footprint. Lauren’s life goal of seeking to “be worth knowing, rather than be well-known” fits well with Helix’s vision. She is passionate about people and wants to make a positive impact on our local community.
Director of Construction
Matt's family has been involved in construction for three generations. Matt follows in his grandfather's and father's footsteps in the construction field. He brings 30+ years of experience to the Helix team where he directs construction operations. Previously, Matt worked as a general contractor, developer and for several years for a large Department of Defense contractor. He worked with the design/build team constructing headquarters, logistics bases, hospitals, runways and infrastructure, and other buildings on US military bases all over the world. In his spare time, Matt enjoys playing golf and billiards and spending time with his two adult children.
Melissa spearheads accounting at Helix. She was an "army brat" growing up and then joined the Army herself as an adult. With many years of experience in property management, she joined Helix organization Renewing Management first in 2009 and then moved over to Helix soon after it launched. In her spare time Melissa enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, four sons and four grandsons. She is excited to support the team through retirement!
Vice President of Development
Sib brings a diversity of knowledge and experience to Helix. He started his career in corporate finance, working for three Fortune 50 companies. During that time Sib earned his CFA and a MBA from Duke University before diving into real estate. He started with acquisition rehabs and later expanded into multifamily new construction. After 10 years of market rate development, Sib took a sabbatical and joined IHCDA to train in Tax Credit and Tax Exempt Bond Financed Affordable Housing Development. Sib is excited to be back in development with Helix, focused on build-to-rent subdivisions as well as multistory apartments, ranging from market rate to affordable, and public-private partnerships.
Ted has more than 20 years of experience in Multi Family/Residential construction and helps manage Helix development projects. He enjoys watching the details come together to see a project grow to completion. Ted loves being a father and uncle and watching his son grow, although he does spend a fair bit of time running him from one activity to the next. (Like most parents!) If he had more spare time Ted does enjoy snow skiing, although he doesn't get to do it often enough.
A life-long carpenter and construction worker, Tom's experience helps him oversee Helix new developments, and he loves seeing new spaces created! Tom served in the Marine Corps and comes from a large extended family, including a twin brother and five other siblings. He and his wife, Dawn, have a Betta fish named Fred. In his spare time, you might find Tom fishing or working on special projects around home.
